*I have personally witnessed so many veterans returning from combat with a heightened spiritual awareness: the smell of a flower, the touch of a woman, the sound of an infant’s cry; all brought an unexplainable joy and peace upon returning from war. Yet others enduring similar trauma come home bitter, depressed and profoundly affected. In no way can I stand in judgment of anyone who has been so badly impacted by the horrors of war but I often wonder at the differences that separates the two? Could it be that one had discovered an inner-resource that transcended the terror around him while the other was simply overwhelmed by it? Whatever the causes I can take away from this a lesson in adversity however severe.Friday, November 18, 2011
