The Light of Joy

Christians could be accused of focusing on “original sin”; Buddhists, the nature of suffering; Muslims, the Judgment Day; AA’s, the sorrows of our drinking; and so on. From the outside it would appear that each of these paths are populated by a bunch of sick-souls, stern and sour prigs; and thus, piety, an undesirable state of consciousness. It would be a mistake to reduce each of these spiritual paths to a negation of life instead of being the powerful creative forces that have transformed millions of lives. Each fellowship offers a proving ground and community to expand and grow in consciousness as well as mental and physical health. Everywhere there is a synagogue, a mosque, a cathedral, ashram, temple, shrine, sacred grotto or sacred grove, people have come and continue come, to join hands, helping each other to form a coalition against suffering, stepping into the light of discovery and joy.
